Solar Panels

Did you know lightning damage is the number one cause of catastrophic failures in solar electric systems and components? A direct lightning strike would destroy and melt solar panels, inverters, and other components of your solar array system.  Indirect strikes would induce high voltages into the system breaking PV panels and components as well as producing dangerous sparking that could ignite combustible material.   The main reason for this is that many PV systems are inadequately grounded and not properly protected against lightning strikes.

Maritime Lightning Protection can protect your Solar Array investment against lightning damage.  We offer lightning protection for roof-mounted or ground-mounted solar arrays (photovoltaic and thermal collectors) and associated electrical or mechanical systems.  Lightning Protection is installed as per the requirements of the Canadian Standards Association CSA B72:20 Installation code which has a dedicated section exclusively for solar array protection.

Maritime Lighting Protection has provided lightning protection for ground-mounted and roof-mounted solar arrays on commercial buildings and residential homes.  Lightning Protection for your residence or commercial building can be combined with your solar array lightning protection.

Stay tuned for pictures of our roof-mounted solar array protection installations on our upcoming Moncton, NB and Charlottetown, PEI commercial projects.
